Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021 – Motorsport is back!
Bradley Jando | Friday 9th July 2021 12:43pm
As the sun came up on Thursday morning, and people began to arrive at Goodwood House, there was a feeling on excitement in the air. 2020 was a turbulent year across the globe and the motorsport world was not unaffected by this, as Goodwood Festival of speed was forced to postpone – the first year since 1992 that the festival had not gone ahead.
Today, a year later on and with access to vaccines and coronavirus tests, car enthusiasts from across the country have been able to finally visit once more - as the crowds return for the world’s greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture!
Thursday’s Highlights
Thursday’s action saw the manufacturers including BMW, Ferrari and Porsche debut some new models up the famous Hill Climb track, while anticipation builds for the weekend’s competitors to take to the same course. In the afternoon you could hear tyres screeching and see smoke rising as the Driftkhana contenders completed their practice rounds, drifting around the track as spectators watched on in awe.

Perhaps the most impressive feat of the day was performed in the afternoon, when stunt driver Terry Grant took centre stage. Grant, holder of multiple stunt driving world records and famous for many TV and film appearances, got behind the wheel of a Jaguar F-Pace as he attempted an incredible stunt; completing the Hill Climb track on just two wheels! In an incredible effort Terry Grant navigated almost the whole track balancing on just the two drivers side wheels, before safely returning touching down with all four wheels to cross the finish line.
Terry Grant looks more comfortable driving on 2 wheels than most drivers do on 4!
